Exemption Exams for Common Compulsory Courses (OZD)

    • Dear Students,

Welcome to Çankırı Karatekin University. The Common Courses Coordination Office administers an exemption exam once at the beginning of each academic year for the following compulsory first-year courses (Semesters I and II) included in your department or program curriculum: ATA-101/102 (Atatürk's Principles and History of the Revolution I/II), TBT-191/192 (Basic Information Technology Usage), TDİ-101/102 (Turkish Language I/II), YDİ-101/102 (English I/II), and YDA-101/102 (German I/II).

The exemption exam for these common compulsory courses for the 2026-2027 academic year will be held face-to-face in a single session on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 15:30, in the exam halls designated by the respective departments.

No prior application is required for the exemption exam; you may simply take the exam at the designated time and location determined by your department.

Students taking the course for the first time—including newly registered students, those who have completed the preparatory program, and those who had previously frozen their registration—are eligible to participate in the exemption exam.
Students wishing to take the exemption exam must be present in the designated exam hall at the scheduled date and time. Students arriving more than 15 minutes after the exam has started, or those who leave the exam hall for any reason during the exam, will strictly not be admitted to the exam hall. The exam consists of 20 questions for each subject, and the allotted time for each subject is 20 minutes.
Students who achieve a passing grade of at least sixty (60) out of one hundred (100) on the exemption exam—based on the absolute assessment method—are considered successful in the course. Students who score below 60 on the exemption exam are required to take the relevant courses.
Students who will be studying in the Foreign Language Preparatory Class during the relevant academic year, as well as students who previously registered for the course but failed due to grades or absenteeism—or who wish to retake it to improve their grade—are not eligible to take the exemption exam.
Students may only take the exemption exam for the specific foreign language course (YDİ-101/102 English I/II or YDA-101/102 German I/II) they selected during course registration. Even if a student takes the exemption exam for the other foreign language course, the result will not be evaluated.
Only students for whom the TBT-191/192 Basic Information Technologies Usage course is a mandatory requirement in their department/program curriculum may take the exemption exam for this course. If students for whom the course is elective take the exam, their results will not be evaluated.
Identity checks will be conducted before the exam begins; you must bring your identification (e.g., national ID card, student ID card, or passport) and your university registration document (students who registered online can obtain this document via e-Government, while those who registered in person can obtain it from the Department of Student Affairs).
The use of ballpoint pens during the exam is prohibited. Coding on the optical answer sheet must be done using a pencil. The exams of students who make incomplete or incorrect markings on the optical answer sheet will strictly not be evaluated.

NOTE 1: Taking the exemption exams is not mandatory.

NOTE 2: Only the grades of students who pass the exams [scoring 60 (C3) or higher] will be recorded in the system, and the student will be exempted from the relevant course(s). No grade will be entered into the system for students who take the exam but fail to achieve a sufficient score; as stated in the preceding clause, such students will be required to take the relevant course(s).
